Whether you’re a secret tweakment-getter or a shout-it-from-the-rooftops-kinda-gal, one thing’s for sure - aesthetic treatments have been HUGE in the last few years. And the great thing is they’re no longer just for A-list celebs! More and more of us are opting for treatments for lines and wrinkles, fillers, chemical peels, Profhilo and so much more to help us look and feel amazing. Not too long ago, finding a decent aesthetic practitioner in your area was like trying to find a needle in a haystack - and when you did find one, you might not have felt completely at ease (they were just there for the rich and famous, right?!).
The Little Black Book of Cosmetic Practitioners
Nowadays, though, there are tonnes of friendly, medically qualified cosmetic superstars across the nation (just check out the hundreds already listed on Glowday!), who are fabulous, safe and ready to make you feel a million dollars. In fact, some practitioners have their very own signature treatments that people will travel miles for. So, if you fancy a tweakment - whether that’s to plump your lips, get rid of dark circles, change the size or shape of your nose, enhance your jawline or get gorgeous, glowing skin, these are some of the pros to take note of...
Lips Fillers
Antoinette Hamilton, Antoinette Hamilton Aesthetics
If you’re looking for lip enhancement - whether it’s fuller lips or a change to the shape, here’s a practitioner who never fails to amaze her patients with her natural lip fillers results. Known in the industry as the ‘Lip Queen’, Antoinette has been perfecting pouts for years. Working across Bury and Manchester, she has loyal clients who come back to her time and time again for her fabulous, natural-looking results. So, how does she get lips looking so amazing?
When it comes to lip injections, she explains, “I take my time with lips. I’ve done various courses and have developed my own way of treating people so, rather than using one method, I take elements from different methods. A lot of it is in the assessment of the lips. So, before I start lip fillers, I spend a lot of time looking at a patient’s lips and taking photos. Sometimes you notice something different on a photo to what you see face to face. I also speak to my clients because sometimes they notice things about their lips that I may have missed.
I also take into consideration the whole face - especially the lower face - and whether the lips are in proportion with the client’s other features. So, I’m assessing everything - not just their lips. I look at symmetry and ratio, and I use a combination of needles and cannula. Everyone’s different, so it's really important that everyone is treated differently. It’s definitely not a one size fits all approach.”

Tear troughs
Dr Ahmed (The Aesthetics Doctor)
We all get eye bags at times - usually if we haven’t had enough sleep. But for some, dark circles can really affect the way they feel about themselves when they look in the mirror. Sick of being told you look tired? Yup, it’s frustrating when you’ve actually had a good night’s sleep, isn’t it?
There are things you can do to address these under eye depressions, though, and tear trough fillers are one such treatment. Using hyaluronic acid fillers, practitioners inject the under eye area to restore volume and reduce darkness. But it has to be done by someone who really knows what they’re doing, as it’s a complex treatment.
Dr Ahmed, AKA The Aesthetics Doctor, who works across Manchester, Leeds and London, describes this treatment as one of his favourites, deeming it his ‘bread and butter’. And you can see why, as 70% of his patients come to him specifically for tear trough fillers. But a consultation is key with tear trough fillers, as they’re not right for everyone. Fortunately, Dr Ahmed takes his time with all his consultations, making sure the tweakment you want is right for you and tailored, especially.

Baby Botox
Dr Ana Mansouri
Anti-wrinkle injections have been around for years, with women and men around the world falling in love with their rejuvenating results. Forehead lines, crow’s feet, bunny lines and frown lines (11s) gone in a couple of weeks of having this magic toxin. But, while some love the neurotoxin, others prefer it in smaller doses. This is termed in the industry as Baby Botox - and one practitioner who has become a complete pro in this area is Dr Ana Mansouri, who’s the lead practitioner of the multi-award winning team at Kat & Co Aesthetics.
She describes it as “a more modern take on softening wrinkles than the more traditional approach. With Baby Botox, I soften lines in the most undetectable and natural way. You’re still able to move and make expressions; the lines just won’t be as prominent as before. The muscles won’t be quite strong enough to cause lines at rest.
The aim of Baby Botox is to get rid of the lines at rest but keep the lines while you’re expressing yourself, because that’s part of life. It’s really undetectable and blends in nicely with the rest of your face and neck, and there’s no need to worry about not being able to move your muscles or feel that you have restricted movement. But it is also, generally, enough to prevent those lines from becoming deep set.”
If you're looking to reduce those pesky lines and wrinkles, you can see Dr Ana's availability here.
Acne treatment
Dr Claire Ashley, Aethra Aesthetics
Acne can seriously knock confidence. For some, it’s a short bout during their teenage years, while for others it carries on way into adulthood, and can be frustrating, painful and embarrassing.
Thankfully, though, there are some amazing aesthetic treatments that can really help reduce acne. And one practitioner who knows all about treating this skin issue is Dr Claire Ashley. Not only is she skilled in helping get rid of it, she’s also suffered with acne herself, so she knows exactly how you feel.
So, what acne treatment does Dr Ashley offer? Chemical resurfacing treatments and microneedling are on the menu, but she’ll assess everyone on an individual basis in an in depth consultation. She’s also a huge fan of skincare too, which she believes played a big part in her own path to gorgeous skin, explaining, “I now use a nice gentle exfoliating cleanser from PH Formula - the skincare company I partner with, and I use a retinol and vitamin C serum, which are both great for lines and wrinkles. I also use niacinamide, which is good for spots, and I’m also introducing treatments like microneedling, as well as the chemical resurfacing treatments from PH Formula.” She has the medical knowledge, the skill and the understanding of what it’s like to live with and overcome acne!

Non-surgical nose job
Dr MJ, Smileworks
If you fancy changing the shape or size of your nose, you have a droopy tip or a bump that’s been bothering you all your life, a liquid nose job might be just what you’re after. Amazing benefits, no surgery! And, honestly, see the right aesthetic practitioner and it’s like magic. And, as it’s another tweakment that can be dangerous in the wrong hands, we recommend - as with any aesthetic treatment - only seeing a medically qualified expert with tonnes of training and experience in this tweakment.
One practitioner who shines in this area is Dr MJ Rowland-Warmann of Smileworks. She’s been praised for her liquid rhinoplasty for years, and she puts this down to the fact that she takes her time, assesses each patient carefully and gets it right.
And she only sees non-surgical nose jobs as getting more and more popular, saying, “I don’t see treatments like nose augmentation slowing down. I do a huge number of noses, and, certainly for a huge number of advanced practitioners, this is the way it’s going. I actually do more noses and tear troughs most days than I do lip augmentation.”

Temple filler
Dr Manav Bawa
An unsung hero of the non-surgical aesthetics world, temple filler can make a huge difference to faces that have suffered volume loss. And that’s because of how subtle yet effective the results can be. Often, we don’t even specifically notice that it’s our temples that are starting to lose volume, we just know that something is different but can’t pinpoint what it is.
That’s where a good aesthetic practitioner will shine. They will be able to identify if you have volume loss in the temples and, if so, they may well suggest that you try temple filler. One practitioner who is a big advocate of temple filler is Dr Manav Bawa, co-founder of Time Medical Clinic in London.
Dr Bawa explains, “it’s the people who come in looking tired, with drooping eyes or saggy brows who would benefit from temple filler, because the fat in the temple area has basically shrunk, and the skin has fallen down and forward. Placing filler along the cheek bone and the temple helps stretch the skin back and open up the eye. It’s a really subtle but effective treatment that gives brightness back to the face.”
So, if you fancy a bit of temple filler to turn back the years, check out Dr Bawa's profile.
Midface fillers
Claire Lavery, Claire Lavery Aesthetics
Noticed your cheeks starting to sag or flatten? You might have considered getting midface fillers to give it a natural-looking plumpness, potentially shaving a few years off your appearance. And one aesthetic practitioner who wows her patients with midface fillers is Claire Lavery of Claire Lavery Aesthetics in Leeds.
Claire says, “midface volumisation can really transform your face. Many patients, during their consultations, will say they feel they look old and tired. By adding filler to the cheek and midface you can really make someone look so much fresher. I had my first treatment a year ago and I don’t know why I didn’t get it sooner.”
And with these results, you can see why patients will travel miles to see the lovely Claire!

Jawline augmentation
Dr Bibi Ghalaie, Dr Bibi Aesthetics
If a chiselled, more defined jawline is what you wish for when you look in the mirror, you’re not alone. It’s become a hugely requested tweakment that’s performed using filler.
Dr Bibi Ghalaie sees a huge number of patients for jawline fillers, which has become one of her signature treatments in the last few years. She says, “it’s really diverse in terms of the patient demographic, and can be anyone from a young patient who wants a more defined jawline to a much older patient, say in their 70s, who has laxity and sagging of the skin.
In some patients, it can make such a difference. In patients whose chin sits slightly posterior to the profile, bringing the chin forward and treating the jaw at the same time can really harmonise the profile beautifully. Creating a beautiful jawline all comes down to knowing what products to use and how to place them, and being strategic with a cannula.”

Skin boosters and bioremodellers, e.g Profhilo
Shelley Folkes, Glow Clinic Hereford
We're all after that illusive glowy skin, right? But is it really illusive as we think? With bioremodellers like Profhilo, glowing skin doesn't have to be a dream; it can be a reality. The hyaluronic acid based injectable works by improving skin quality and making us look rejuvenated and more youthful, and it's become a super popular treatment in the last couple of years.
It's not going to give you volume or change the structure of your face like fillers will, but it's bloody fantastic at hydrating and giving a radiant look.
A practitioner who loves treating her patients with Profhilo is Shelley Folkes of the Glow Clinic in Hereford, West Midlands. She says, "I love Profhilo as it is so pure, so safe and gets incredible results. It really bridges the gap in aesthetics, offering a unique solution to skin laxity that simply didn't exist before. It works its magic from within, restoring firmness to the skin, giving a smoother and tighter appearance that can be hugely confidence-boosting for my patients."

Laser hair removal
Ness Griffiths, Novellus Aesthetics
Legs, underarm, upper lip...Hair removal can feel like a never ending chore. Shaving, waxing, hair removal cream each have their pros, but the main con is that unwelcome hair just keeps on coming back. Thankfully, there’s laser hair removal, which has, in recent years, become a seriously popular treatment in the world of aesthetics.
Ness Griffiths of Novellus Aesthetics in Newcastle is passionate about laser hair removal, and her passion is evident in her work and in her patients’ reactions.
Ness explains, “I feel so happy when I see people becoming the best version of themselves and making a big difference to their confidence when I do laser hair treatment. You often get people coming in who have medical conditions that means they've suffered with troublesome hair for years and years. I treat them and the hair will often be gone after just one session. Body contouring and fat reduction
Janet Igboebisi, WB Aesthetics
If you’ve found yourself taking more and more trips to the treat draw (or entire treat cupboard as it is in my case) and have found that exercising just isn’t helping you lose those extra pounds, non-surgical body contouring or fat reduction treatments might be just what the aesthetic doctor ordered.
There are tonnes of incredible tweakments now that can help shift bulges that just won’t budge, from fat freezing to radio frequency, EMSculpt, fat dissolving injections and more. Hallelujah!
One practitioner who does an incredible job providing these treatments is Janet Igboebisi of WB Aesthetics in Clapham. She explains, "I am passionate about helping people to improve their overall wellbeing. Many of my clients report that they are experiencing trouble removing stubborn fat despite regular exercise, and are looking to avoid going under the knife. Fat reduction/body sculpting treatments at WB Aesthetics are non-surgical options that help clients achieve their goals and kick starts healthier life style choices. This is because we actively encourage clients to increase their water intake as well as better eating and exercise habits to optimise their results.
Though results do vary from person to person, you can expect to see up to 40% reduction in fat (not weight) and more definition with body sculpting treatment."
So, if that sounds like your kind of treatment, you can check out Janet's profile here.
Vaginal rejuvenation
Katie Alex Aesthetics
A treatment that, perhaps, isn’t so well known about in the world of aesthetics is vaginal rejuvenation. But, actually, it’s a treatment that holds a huge amount of benefits for many women. There are several methods of vaginal rejuvenation, but Katie Alex - owner of Katie Alex Aesthetics, in Wilmslow, Hale & Alderley Edge, uses the Ultra Femme 360, which can treat internally and externally, and uses radiofrequency to heat up the vaginal tissue and stimulate new collagen.
There are many reasons why a woman might consider vaginal rejuvenation. For example, stress incontinence, vaginal laxity, dryness, issues following childbirth or menopause, and for issues related to a decrease in libido or even difficulty reaching orgasm.
While vaginal rejuvenation might still seem like a taboo topic to some, the fabulous Katie, who treats women of all ages, says, “My aim is to eradicate the taboo around vaginal rejuvenation. [...] Fifty per cent of women over 50 have stress incontinence. This treatment prevents them from having invasive surgery. The best thing about my job is changing women’s lives; making them feel good about themselves and restoring their confidence - sexually, physically and holistically.”
